Keith Grogg, pastor
The Rev. Keith Grogg was born and raised in Bloomington, Illinois, and is a graduate of Indiana University and McCormick Theological Seminary. He and his wife, Vivian Hare, have two children. Until his ordination he was a lifelong member of Second Presbyterian Church in Bloomington IL. For one year between college and seminary, Keith served as a PC(USA) Mission Volunteer with a British program called Time For God, through which he served St. Andrew's Church in Bedford, England. From 1994-2000 he was both pastor of Kirkwood Presbyterian Church and associate pastor of Bethpage Presbyterian Church in Kannapolis, NC. He has been pastor of Carolina Beach Presbyterian Church since August, 2000.
Keith's Links Please don't feel slighted if I don't "friend" you on facebook. As a matter of policy, I've decided not to have church members on my friends list, a decision I arrived at from a couple of different perspectives. One, who wants their pastor looking over their shoulder all the time, even in semi-public conversations among friends? And two, who would want to look over their pastor's shoulder all the time, even in his or her semi-public conversations among friends? On that note, I believe I have a page, but nothing on it, on MySpace. I practically never check it. My blog from a 2009 sabbatical, including narrative, photos and (mostly useless) video clips, can be seen at www.sabbaticalnotes.blogspot.com.
Vivian Hare, director of music & Christian education
Vivian Hare became organist and choir director in the fall of 2002, and in October 2005 was named full-time director of music and Christian education. Vivian studied at Queens College in Charlotte, NC and holds bachelor's degrees in both religion and church organ performance from Presbyterian College in Clinton, SC. She earned her Master's degree in Christian Education from the Presbyterian School of Christian Education (now part of Union Presbyterian Seminary) in Richmond, VA. She is a certified Christian Educator of the Presbyterian Church (USA). Her experience has included two years of mission service in Taiwan as a PC(USA) Volunteer in Mission. She worked in the former Global Missions Unit of the national office of the Presbyterian Church (USA) in Louisville, KY for several years, culminating in her service as the director of the Mission Volunteer (USA) program. She has been DCE for Philadelphia Presbyterian Church, Mulberry Presbyterian Church, and Bethpage Presbyterian Church in the Kannapolis/Charlotte area.
