1. “We Believe” – a study and reflection class (teachers: Ed and Sylvia Davis, Shelley Slusser) to encounter scripture in order to make connections with our daily lives, all of this taught from the Reformed (and specifically Presbyterian) perspective.
2. “Know the Bible ” – a verse by verse, book by book, exploration of the Bible, finding meaning and connections, and making the Bible relevant for our lives today. (Teacher: Clara Hare.)
3. “Christian Encounter” – a class to explore the Christian life and the Presbyterian tradition (teacher: Keith Grogg), this will also serve as an ongoing New Member Class.
“Who is this Education Hour for?” Everyone! Couples, singles, all ages, people with no church background, or who have been in church all their life.
“Are there classes for everyone?” Yes, the whole family has a place. In addition to these adult classes, Middle and High School youth have their own class that will also include confirmation preparation (see Keith or Vivian with questions). And we have classes for children of all ages, nursery through 5th grade.
“But I went to Sunday School as a kid…so I “graduated” from classes when I joined the church, right? Regular education might have a graduation date, but Christian education is life long.
“Will I have to pray out loud, or read something?” No. We make it a promise that your knowledge will not be judged or tested. If you are worried that you don’t know enough…well, we all should feel that way. This is the place, the time, and the group to be with who will make you feel welcome and comfortable with learning.
“What does it mean for me?” A chance to grow spiritually in a welcome place open to all. Caring leaders will help guide our conversations as they lead us and inspire us to grow in our Christian faith and understanding, while also enhancing our worship experience.
Good things are happening in Christian Education, and we have a place for you! Join us Sunday mornings from 9:30 – 10:30 A.M.
